Holidays
Holidays are the days your business is closed. Cadence steps, automation waits and the tasks automations create skip them, the same way they already skip weekends, so nothing comes due on a day nobody is working.
Go to Settings > Holidays. You need the Manage permission on Cadences, which administrators, sales managers and marketing managers have.
Add a holiday
Section titled “Add a holiday”- Pick the Date. Only today or later can be chosen.
- Enter a Name, such as Christmas Day.
- Click Add holiday.
Gabriel confirms that cadences and automations will skip that day. Each date can only be on the list once.
Remove a holiday
Section titled “Remove a holiday”- Click Remove next to the holiday.
- Click Remove to confirm.
Cadences and automations treat that date as an ordinary working day again.
How it works
Section titled “How it works”- Working days are Monday to Friday, minus your holidays. A wait of “2 days” after a Friday step lands on Tuesday; if Monday is a holiday, it lands on Wednesday.
- Week and month waits are calendar time. If one ends on a weekend or holiday, it moves to the next working day.
- Automation-created tasks due “in N working days” skip holidays too.
- Already-scheduled work doesn’t move. Adding or removing a holiday changes timing for work scheduled from then on. A step already due on that day stays due on that day.
- The list keeps the past. Holidays are grouped under Coming up and Past. Past holidays stay so you can see why work last year landed where it did.
- Booking pages aren’t affected. Holidays don’t block times on your booking pages; set those under your own scheduling availability.
- Holidays are dates in your company’s time zone, set under Company.
Best practices
Section titled “Best practices”- Add the whole year’s holidays in January, before cadences run into them. Changes don’t move work that’s already scheduled, so a holiday added the week before only helps steps scheduled after you add it.
- Add office closures, not just public holidays. The week between Christmas and New Year, a company offsite or a training day all stop reps working the queue. Add each day you’re closed.
- Add bridge days you actually take. If the office closes the Friday after Thanksgiving, add it, or Thanksgiving-week steps pile up for Monday.
- Don’t add days only some reps take off. The list applies to everyone. For one rep’s time off, pause their cadence people or switch them out of assignment on the Team page.
- Don’t rely on the Company work week for cadence timing. Cadence and automation working days are always Monday to Friday, whatever Week Start Day and Week End Day say on Company. If you’re closed on a weekday every week, set step waits with that in mind.
